New Delhi: This year, the Uttarakhand government has announced the schedule for the Char Dham Yatra. The yatra will begin on April 30. After the worship of Lord Kedarnath at the Omkareshwar temple during Maha Shivaratri, spiritual leaders and Vedic scholars decided the dates for the Char Dham Yatra. These details were revealed by Vijay Prasad Tapliyal, CEO of the Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee. He stated that the Yamunotri and Gangotri temples will open on April 30, on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya. After that, the Kedarnath and Badrinath temples will open.
The Kedarnath temple will open on May 2 and the Badrinath temple will open on May 4. These temples, located in the Himalayas, remain open for only six months. Due to the cold weather, the temples are closed for the remaining six months. Last year, the Kedarnath temple was closed on November 3. This year, the temple will open for devotees from 7 a.m. on May 2, as per Vijay Prasad Tapliyal. After the closure of the Kedarnath temple, prayers will be held for Lord Kedarnath at the Omkareshwar temple in Ukhimath.
On April 28, the Panchmukhi Doli festival will be held, and Lord Kedarnath will be moved from Ukhimath to Kedarnath, as informed by the CEO of the temple committee. On the previous day, April 27, the Bhairavnath Puja will be performed. After leaving Ukhimath on April 28, Lord Kedarnath will be worshipped at the Vishwanath temple in Gupta Kashi that night. The next morning, the journey will continue, and on April 30, the procession will reach Gaurikund. That night, the deity will be placed in the Gauri Devi temple and worshipped. The next morning, starting from May 1, the procession will resume and reach Kedarnath on the same evening. Kedarnath, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, is the most important among the five sacred Shiva temples.
