Prayagraj: The Prayagraj Maha Kumbh Mela concluded with grandeur on Wednesday, coinciding with the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivaratri. The event, which symbolized unity, devotion, and harmony, was witnessed at the Triveni Sangam. Starting on January 13 and lasting for 45 days, over 662 million people participated in the sacred bath, with more than 14.4 million devotees attending on the final day. It has set a world record as the largest spiritual gathering. Both domestic and international personalities took part in the holy bath. For those unable to attend the Kumbh Mela in person, digital photo bathing was also provided.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee raised concerns over the claim that the Maha Kumbh Mela occurs once every 144 years, questioning the truth behind this estimate. She had also expressed her concerns regarding the accidents happening during the Kumbh Mela. The BJP criticized Mamata Banerjee's comments, saying they were misleading and intended to misguide the public.
Central Minister Ramdas Athawale criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray for not attending the Maha Kumbh Mela, an important Hindu festival, despite millions of Hindus participating. He called for Hindu voters to boycott them, stating that they had disrespected the sentiments of millions of Hindus by not attending. He urged Rahul Gandhi and the Thackeray family to respect the religious significance of the event and participate, as their absence was seen as an insult to Hindus.
