Stalin: "Due to the Hindi language, 25 languages are disappearing"

Chennai: Tamil Nadu has intensified its fight against the Hindi language. The state's Chief Minister, MK Stalin, made it clear that the language will not be implemented under any circumstances. He emphasized his commitment to fighting for the protection of the Tamil language and Tamil culture. Stalin stated that they oppose the condition of making Hindi language mandatory, and described Hindi as a "mask" and Sanskrit as an "invisible face." He shared this message in a letter addressed to party workers.

It is well known that the central government introduced a new National Education Policy requiring the learning of three languages. However, the DMK opposes this decision. Stalin mentioned in his letter that local languages like Maithili, Braj Bhasha, Bundelkhandi, and Avadhi, spoken in Bihar, UP, and Madhya Pradesh, are disappearing due to the dominance of Hindi. He also highlighted that approximately 25 ancient languages in North India have vanished due to the supremacy of Hindi and Sanskrit.

Stalin criticized the three-language policy, claiming that it mostly promotes Sanskrit across states. He accused the BJP-led Rajasthan government of recruiting Sanskrit teachers instead of Urdu teachers. He warned that if the three-language system is implemented in Tamil Nadu, it would lead to the neglect of mother tongues, and the future would be dominated by Sanskrit. He pointed out that former Dravidian leader and late Chief Minister CN Annadurai had prioritized the implementation of a bilingual policy in Tamil Nadu. Stalin concluded that the imposition of Hindi and Sanskrit would harm Tamil culture.
